St George's Tolworth

A church at the heart of our community

About Us

Stained Glass Cross

St George is an Anglican Church and part of the Tolworth, Hook and Surbiton team ministry "THiS" for short.  We are a church family that take care of each other and wants to support our local community.  Visitors often comment on the warm welcome at St George’s, we love it when people stay after our Sunday morning services for a coffee and a chat.

St George’s vision is to be a hub for the local community and to bring Jesus to our neighbours in worship and by our actions.  Our comfortable modern building with large hall hosts many community groups as well as a church run toddler group, Shine kid’s group, bible study, prayer groups and Silver Threads an over 60’s fellowship group.  We collect food for the Trussell Trust Foodbank, and volunteers from St George’s distribute food to those in need in the Borough of Kingston at Tolworth Recreation Centre.

We meet every Sunday morning - 2nd and 4th Sundays are communion services.  On 1st Sunday of each month we have our lively All Age service, 3rd and 5th Sundays are for a more informal worship services with blocks of worship songs and a longer time for teaching.  Whatever the style of our worship our prayer is that it will be filled to the brim with the Holy Spirit.  Prayer is central to the life of our church and supports and sustains all that we do.

Bethel Church lunchIn March 2024 we were delighted to welcome to St George's Sunday morning service a group of thirteen students from Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry, part of Bethel Church based in Redding, California, USA.  Their ministry immensely blessed our congregation as they led us in worship, teaching, prayer, and prophetic ministry.  We felt God's presence powerfully during our time together.  The group also did a prayer walk in our parish and prayed for the wider community.  Later in the afternoon, they ministered in two other local churches in our community, where again they led worship and prayed and offered prophetic encouragement to people.  We thank them for their ministry and for visiting us.

Church of EnglandIn February 2023 St George's was chosen to host the weekly online worship service from the Church of England.  The service was streamed via YouTube at 9am on Sunday February 5th and you can view it here
