This Month's Focus

90th Anniversary.jpgHurray, St George's Tolworth is 90 years old!  Celebrations are part of our lives: birthdays, graduation, passing tests and anniversaries, to name just a few.  We relish these moments as we reflect on our life journeys, rejoice in our achievements and progress, and celebrate our victories.

In the early 1930s, a vision was conceived to build a church in Tolworth.  That vision became a reality when St George’s Church Tolworth was built on Hamilton Avenue and dedicated in June 1934.  Today, we are thrilled to be celebrating its 90th Anniversary.  For nine decades, St George's has been the centre of our community, serving and sharing the love of God.  As a warm and friendly congregation, we exist to worship God and serve our community.  Several community groups use our church hall, and our church grounds offer space for community events, which help foster healthy community relationships.

As we look back on the nine decades of faithful presence in Tolworth, we thank God for all he has done and enabled St George’s to accomplish.  We rejoice in the contribution we have made to lives in our community, both socially and spiritually.  We also celebrate the lives touched and transformed through our gospel witness and mission to our community.

We look forward to the future with excitement and hope as we continue to offer a Christian presence and place for all in our community.  On Sunday, 16th June 2024, we gather as a church to celebrate this significant milestone at our 10am Sunday service, and we would like to invite the community to join us in this celebration.

Sundays at St Georges

We meet every Sunday Morning for worship at 10:00am, with a variety of services styles available.  Whatever the style of service, there is always a time for teaching, prayer, prayer ministry, and worship.  Please look below to find out more about the different services we hold.

St George’s has a lively and friendly congregation which we would love to grow and be able to do more for our local community.  So if you have a heart for the community, curiosity about Christ or just fancy some company, we would love to welcome you.  If you are interested in joining any of our activities or learning more about Jesus and Christianity, send us an Email or join us for our Sunday Service.  With God’s help, St George’s continues to work as a centre of Christian worship, witness and ministry.

All Age Service

Our All Age service runs on the 1st Sunday of every month, with singing, Bible Stories, and interactive talks.  While this service is particularly aimed at families, and children, it is of course open to "All Ages".

Holy Communion

On the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month is our Holy Communion service with a more traditional approach to its layout.  These services include Hymns, and Liturgy in addition to a teaching, and prayers.  Children’s ministry (Shine Sunday School) is also provided in the Hall of the church during the service including craft projects and teaching.

The Eucharist (or Holy Communion) is a service commemorating The Last Supper, in which bread and wine are blessed and consumed as a symbolism of the Body and Blood of Jesus.  As a church, this is something we strongly believe in and follow.  For more information see our "What We Believe" Page here

Informal Worship

On the 3rd and 5th Sundays of each month, we have our Informal Morning Worship.  These services take a more relaxed, modern approach to worship, with blocks of songs, prayers and a sermon.  Our Shine Sunday School also runs during the service for the children.

Whatever the style of service there is always a time for teaching to suit that type of worship and our prayer is that our service will be filled to the brim with the Holy Spirit.  Prayer is central to the life of our Church which supports and sustains all that we do.

Please have a look around our website to find out more about who we are and what we do.  If you are interested in joining in any of our activities or learning more about Jesus and Christianity then send us an email or join us for one of our Sunday services.
