Who's Who

NicholasNicholas Lebey is a Pioneer Curate of Tolworth, Hook, and Surbiton Team Ministry.  He leads St. George's Tolworth.

Before being ordained Deacon, Nicholas served as Church Army Evangelist and worked with young people in Bradford and South East London.  Nicholas is married and has three children.  In his spare time, he enjoys playing and watching football and is a big fan of Chelsea Football Club.

RachelIt was the warm welcome Churchwarden Rachel received at St George’s that led her to make the church her regular place of worship.  She has now been at St George’s many years; her two sons enjoyed Sunday School, making friends that have continued into adulthood.

St George’s is the place which keeps Rachel growing in her faith, through teaching, worship, prayer, and friendship.   As churchwarden, she works with Nicholas and the leadership team on the ministry, mission, and upkeep of the church.  Rachel leads Radiance, the monthly ladies fellowship group and enjoys contributing to many of the ministries of the church.

 

KenChurchwarden Ken is a retired building services consulting engineer.

He was also the chairman of Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness for eight years.

He has four grown-up children and five grandchildren and has been worshiping at St George’s for the last seven years.  Before that he sang in a church choir for thirty-seven years.

 

PaulDeputy Churchwarden Paul moved to Tolworth with QJ, and their 2 children in 2018.  Paul leads services as well as teaching in the church.  Paul runs his own business, despite being super busy, Paul always finds time to preach in the church, actively sharing God's word and is passionate about church being a welcoming environment for all the community.

Paul is a football fan, and supports Queen's Park Rangers, a west London team, where Paul's family are from.  Paul also loves classical music and running.

 

BeckyLay Reader Becky was licensed as a lay minister in the Church of England in 2014.  She helps with leading worship and teaching and has a particular interest in children's work.

Becky's day job is paediatric nursing which is something she is passionate about.  She also loves tennis, travel and Ted (her Staffordshire Bull Terrier).  Becky is married and has two grown up sons.

 

DanielDeanery Synod Member Daniel works as an adult nurse up in London.  Having been a member of St George's since birth, he is part of the teaching team and sound desk team.

He enjoys playing the piano, going for walks, and volunteers for The National Trust at Claremont Landscape Gardens.

 

BillPCC Member Bill was born a long time ago in Tolworth, and never strayed far away for too long.  He has been married and widowed twice.  Other than Preacher and Treasurer, he has held every post in the Church, even flower arranging!

Bill attended The Salvation Army early on, then C of E and Methodist whilst evacuated during the war, then Baptist (with full emersion), and a short spell with Methodists again.  All this with periods in the wilderness before coming home to St George’s more than 40 years ago.

 

ChiomaPCC Member Chioma was born and grew up in the eastern part of Nigeria before migrating to the UK.  She became a member of St George’s family after moving to Tolworth in 2016 and has totally enjoyed being part of this God’s family.

Chioma is married and blessed with 2 children and works as an IT professional.  In her spare time she enjoys cooking and reading.

 

DorindaPCC Member Dorinda, together with her husband Norman, has been a worshipper at St George’s Church since the early 1980’s when their two daughters were baptised.  Since then she has been involved in a variety of aspects of Church life, including Accounts Administrator, and Project Manager (with Norman!) for the complete refurbishment of the Sanctuary.  She is currently a member of the Pastoral Team, involved with the church’s charity work, and organises all the catering needs, both large and small, of St George’s Church.

In her spare time she likes nothing better than to be with her family, gardening, sewing or baking!

VickyPCC Member Vicky’s first involvement at St George’s was as a Brownie!  She is an active member of the Church along with her husband Rob and 2 children.  She enjoys arranging the flowers in the sanctuary and helping with the children’s group SHINE.

Vicky is also a Governor at St Matthew’s C of E Primary School.

 

AlanPCC Member and Caretaker Alan came to St. George’s in 1993 and from 1994 onwards has looked after the Church garden and grounds.  In December 2013 he was approached about the Caretakers role and was pleased to accept as he always likes to be busy.

A big sports fan, football (Chelsea FC), golf, also cricket.  Alan loves all types of music especially 60s, has 5 grandchildren that keep him on his toes, and enjoys meeting all the people that use the Church facilities.

 

NikkiWiggles Toddler Group Leader Nikki has worked in childcare since training and qualifying as a Nursery Nurse back in 1987.  Roles have included Nannying, Nursery work, Family Support Worker in social services, Childrens' Centre Worker, Foster Carer.  She is self-employed as a nanny, providing childcare for several families, and runs Wiggles on Friday mornings.

Nikki is married and has two grown up daughters, one at University studying Social Work and Paediatric Nursing, one at college studying Health and Social Care.  In her spare time Nikki enjoys dance fitness, swimming and yoga, and family holidays in Cornwall.

 

PhilChurch Administrator Phil grew up in Merton Park attending St Mary's Church, marrying Brenda there in 1983.  They bought their first house together in Tolworth, and their 2 sons grew up in the St George's family.  A life-long dancer and musician, Phil leads Tolworth World of Dance folk dance group with Brenda.

Working in IT came in useful during COVID lockdown when Phil moved the entire congregation to Sunday Zoom services.  Now semi-retired with 6 grandchildren, Phil enjoys gardening, DIY, tracing his family history, and he looks after the Administration at St George's.
